Resize an Image to 20 KB on Android or iPhone
Need an image under 20 KB? Set a 20 KB target in ResizePing on Android or iPhone, check the projected size, and lower the resolution if it can't get there.
Published October 26, 2026
To resize an image to 20 KB, open the photo in ResizePing on Android or iPhone, set Mode to Target size and type 20 in the Target (KB) field. The app shows a projected size before you save and tells you when 20 KB can't be reached.
Need a photo at this size? ResizePing resizes photos to exact dimensions or a file size on iPhone and Android. Get it on Google Play or the App Store.
Steps
- Open ResizePing and pick the photo you want to shrink.
- Set Mode to Target size.
- In Target (KB), type 20.
- Pick the format the form asks for: JPG, PNG or WEBP. Leave Strip metadata on unless the form says otherwise.
- Read the Projected size before you run.
- Tap Run, then check the result size before you upload.

If 20 KB is too small for the photo
A 20 KB target is very small for a phone photo. When ResizePing can't reach it, it says "Can't get this under 20 KB. Try a larger size or lower resolution." If a finished result still misses, it shows "Couldn't reach 20 KB — this is the smallest possible".
Lower the resolution first, then try the target again:
- Switch Mode to Dimensions or Percent and make the photo smaller.
- Run it, then open the smaller result, set Target size, type 20 in Target (KB) and tap Run.
If the form allows a little more room, use the next size up from the guides below.
What to know
- ResizePing works on photos.
- The projected size is an estimate, so read the real size of the result before you upload.
- If the form has a hard 20 KB limit, check the saved size before you upload; if it is over, type a slightly lower target, such as 19.
- Location data is stripped by default. You can process one photo or a batch.
