GATE Photo and Signature Size in KB: Resize on Android or iPhone
GATE photo and signature size in KB and pixels from the official page, and how to resize both on your phone with ResizePing's Target size and Dimensions.
Published October 28, 2026 · Last updated October 28, 2026
The GATE 2026 photograph page lists a photo of 5 to 600 KB and a signature of 3 to 300 KB, both as JPG/JPEG, each with a pixel range. To size your files, open ResizePing, set Mode to Target size for the KB and use Dimensions for the pixels.
Photo or signature the wrong size? ResizePing resizes pictures to a size in KB or to exact dimensions on your phone. Get it on Google Play or the App Store.
GATE limits
These numbers come from the official page at gate2026.iitg.ac.in/photograph-and-signature.html. That page is undated, so check the current official GATE page before you upload.
| File | Format | File size | Resolution |
|---|---|---|---|
| Photograph | JPG/JPEG | 5 KB to 600 KB | 200 x 260 px to 530 x 690 px |
| Signature | JPG/JPEG | 3 KB to 300 KB | 250 x 80 px to 580 x 180 px |
The same page also sets rules that are not about size:
- Photograph: passport size (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm), face covering 60-70% of the photo, white background, frontal face, aspect ratio between 0.66 and 0.89.
- Signature: aspect ratio height:width of 1:R with R between 2.75 and 3.75, signature area covering 70-80% of the image after cropping, black or dark blue ink only, signed only by the applicant.
What ResizePing does and does not do
ResizePing sizes a picture by KB and by dimensions. It does not check face coverage, background, ink colour or aspect-ratio rules, and it has no signature mode. Check those yourself against the official page.
Steps
- Read the limits on the current official GATE page.
- Open ResizePing and pick the picture.
- For the KB limit, set Mode to Target size and type a number inside the range in Target (KB). Run it.
- For the pixel range, open the saved result, use Dimensions and enter a width and height inside the range for that file. Run it again.
- Choose JPG as the output, since the official format is JPEG/JPG. Location data is stripped by default.
- Read the Projected size before each run, then check the final file's size and dimensions against the official limits. Resizing the dimensions can change the KB, so repeat Target size if it falls outside the range.
- Repeat for the other file with its own range. Crop the white margins off a signature photo first.
If a size can't be reached, ResizePing warns you. Make the picture smaller with Dimensions or Percent, run it, then set Target size again.
Your files never leave your device.
What to know
- ResizePing works on photos. It has no signature mode.
- The projected size is an estimate, so read the saved file's size before you upload.
- You can process one photo or a batch.
