Notification History App for Android: Save Notifications You Clear
A notification history app keeps what your phone receives so you can search it later. What to look for in one, and how to set it up with RecallPing.

A notification history app is a log that sits on your phone and saves each notification as it arrives, so you can look it up after you have swiped it away. On Android, that means a code, an address or a delivery update is still findable later. RecallPing is one: an Android notification log that keeps what your phone receives from the moment you grant notification access. It has no past history, so it cannot bring back notifications from before access was on or from while capture was stopped.
Want to keep a searchable log from now on? RecallPing saves your notifications on your phone. Get it on Google Play.
What RecallPing adds
Android has its own notification history setting, and it is worth checking first. We cover it step by step in How to See Notification History on Android (Samsung and Cleared). RecallPing is an app you can add alongside it, with:
- Search. Find a notification by what it said, not by scrolling.
- Filters. Narrow by app, date range or type.
- Keeping things. Pin the notifications you will need again.
- Control. Hide noisy senders and lock the log behind your fingerprint, face or PIN.
How to choose a notification history app
Check these before you install one:
- It starts from the day you turn it on. An app can only log what arrives once it has access, so be wary of one that promises old notifications back.
- Real search. Look for phrase search and operators, not just a scrolling list.
- Filters by app, date and type. Codes, deliveries and promotions are the common ones.
- A way to pin. Without it, older entries age out.
- Hide rules. Mute by app, keyword or after-hours window so the log stays useful.
- App lock. A log of your notifications can hold private text.
- No account. You should not need to sign up to read your own notifications.
- Storage on the phone. Ask where the text is kept, and whether it is sent anywhere.
Set up RecallPing
- Install RecallPing on your Android phone and open it.
- Grant notification access. Capture starts from that moment forward.
- Use your phone as normal. Notifications that arrive are saved to the log.
- When you need one back, open the log and search for a word, a quoted phrase, or terms combined with AND, OR and NOT. Word-start search works too, for example
bank*. - Filter by app, date range or type: codes, deliveries or promotions.
- Read the notification in RecallPing. Reading your history never opens the source app; only the Open button does.

Keep what matters, hide what doesn't
RecallPing keeps notifications for 30 days. Pin one, such as a verification code or a delivery confirmation, to keep it past that window. Senders are grouped (banking, social, shopping, delivery, utilities, work), and conversations open as threads. If a sender edits a notification, the earlier version is kept as a revision.
To keep noisy senders out of the log, set a mute rule by app, keyword or after-hours window; muted notifications are hidden from the log. An optional app lock (fingerprint, face or phone PIN) protects what you have saved.
Where your notifications are kept
Notification text is stored in a private database on your phone. RecallPing uses the internet only for ads and Firebase crash and usage diagnostics, and notification text is never part of those requests.
Limits to know
- Android only. There is no iPhone version.
- Capture starts when you grant notification access. Nothing from before that is in the log.
- Android can stop background apps, and notification access can be revoked. RecallPing alerts you if capture stops and tries to reconnect, but notifications missed while capture is stopped cannot be recovered. If a log stops saving, see Notification Log Stopped Saving on Android.
