Questions, bug reports and feature requests are all welcome. Most problems in this category come down to one of four things, so try the troubleshooting below first — then email us either way.

Reporting a bug?

Four details make almost any StatusPing report reproducible:

  • Your phone model and Android version.
  • The app version, from the bottom of StatusPing’s Settings screen.
  • Which messaging app the statuses come from — the standard app, the Business app, or a dual-app or parallel-space clone.
  • What the Setup card and the Watch status row said at the time — a screenshot of them answers most questions on its own.

Troubleshooting

I granted a folder but no statuses appear.

StatusPing looks for the status folder by its shape rather than a hard-coded path, and it can only look inside what you granted. If the Setup card still says no status folder was found, tap it and pick the media folder one level up rather than a single app’s folder — that lets the app find standard, Business, multi-account and cloned installs together. Statuses also only exist on your phone after you have actually viewed them in the messaging app.

The Watch status row says watching has stopped.

That row is telling the truth rather than hiding it. Android stops background work to save battery, and some manufacturers stop it much harder than others. Exclude StatusPing from battery optimisation on the Watch status row, keep its notification enabled, and it will resume. Opening the app always performs a fresh scan regardless.

Deleted-message recovery is on but nothing was captured.

Recovery works only forward from the moment you enabled it, so nothing from before is recoverable. It can also only keep what the notification carried — the sender and the text, never attachments, reactions or edits — and if your phone silenced or suppressed that notification, there was nothing to capture at all. Check that notification access is still granted and that the app you expect is in the watched list.

I paid to remove ads and the banner is back on my new phone.

The purchase is tied to the Google account that bought it. Sign in to that account, open StatusPing’s Settings and tap Restore purchase. If it still reports no previous purchase, email us with the Google Play order number and we will sort it out.

Will you add more features behind a paywall?

No. Every feature works on the free version — no locked feature, no cap on how much you can save, and no subscription. The single purchase removes the banner and nothing else.

Privacy and data

Everything StatusPing captures stays on your phone; there is no account and no server. The privacy policy lists the folder permission, the deleted-message archive and the three network requests the app makes. The terms of use cover the one-time ad removal and what you are responsible for when you save someone else’s status.
