Who we are

StatusPing is an Android app published by PingApps Lab. Questions about this policy go to hello@pingappslab.com. StatusPing is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by WhatsApp Inc. or Meta.

The one folder you pick

StatusPing asks for read access to a single folder that you choose through Android’s own folder picker — the folder your messaging app has already written status photos and videos into. Three things follow from that, and they are the whole permission story:

• •The grant is read-only. The app lists what is in that folder and copies out the files you keep. It cannot modify or delete anything inside it.
• •There is no storage-wide permission. StatusPing does not request All files access and does not request the Android photo or video library permission. It can see the folder you granted, and nothing else on your phone.
• •Nothing is downloaded. The files were already on your device before you installed StatusPing. The app does not connect to any messaging service, sign in to any account, or read any chat.

When you save a status, StatusPing copies it into your own gallery folder on the same device, where your gallery app and your own backup tool can see it. That copy belongs to you; deleting StatusPing does not delete it.

The deleted-message archive (optional, off by default)

Deleted-message recovery is off until you turn it on, and turning it on means granting notification access on an Android settings screen. While it is on, StatusPing keeps its own copy of the notifications you receive from the apps you selected, so that a message deleted after you received it can still be read. That copy is a database on your phone. It is never uploaded.

Three limits, which are the platform’s and not ours:

• •It works only forward, from the moment you turn it on. Nothing from before that can be recovered.
• •It can only hold what the notification itself carried — the sender and the text. No attachments, no reactions, no edits.
• •If your phone silenced or suppressed the notification, there was nothing to capture.

You choose which apps are watched, and you choose how long the archive is kept. You can export the archive, and you can delete all of it in one tap from Settings. Uninstalling StatusPing removes it too.

What leaves your phone

Your statuses, your saved files, your archived messages and your phone number never leave the device. StatusPing makes exactly three kinds of network request, and none of them carries any of that:

• •The ad banner. Google AdMob requests one banner for the top of the screen. Google acts as an independent controller for that request and may use an advertising identifier; see Google’s privacy terms. Buying the one-time ad removal stops these requests.
• •Crash diagnostics. Firebase Crashlytics receives a stack trace, the app version, and the device model when the app crashes. It never receives file names, message text, senders, or images.
• •Anonymous usage counts. Firebase Analytics receives event names such as which screen was opened. It never receives the contents of a status or a message. Usage analytics can be switched off in Settings; crash diagnostics stay on and are content-free by design.

The in-app purchase does not add a fourth. It talks to the Google Play app already installed on your phone, and Google Play — not StatusPing — handles the payment. StatusPing never sees a card number.

Backups

Android’s automatic cloud backup is switched off for this app on purpose, so the deleted-message archive and your app settings are never copied to a Google account. The statuses you saved are ordinary files in your own gallery folder, so whatever backup you have chosen for your gallery applies to them — that choice is yours, not ours.

Children

StatusPing is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them. It has no account system and no user-generated content surface.

Your control

Because there is no account and no server, there is no remote copy of your data for us to hand over or erase. Everything is reachable from the app: revoke the folder grant or the notification access at any time in Android Settings, purge the deleted-message archive in one tap, turn usage analytics off, and uninstall to remove the app’s entire local database.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects what the app collects or sends, the effective date above changes with it and the updated policy ships alongside the app update that caused it.
