Who we are

ChatPing is operated by the individual developer behind the PlannedPing portfolio. Contact: support@plannedping.com.

What ChatPing stores on your device

When you use ChatPing, the following data is saved locally on your phone:

• •Conversations — the messages you send and the replies you receive, saved as chat history in a local database on your device.
• •Attachments you add — images, PDFs, or text files you attach to a message, handled on-device and sent to your chosen AI provider only when you send the message.
• •Your API key — the AI provider key you enter, stored in the device’s secure storage (Android Keystore-backed). It is excluded from cloud backups.
• •App preferences — your selected default model, theme, telemetry choice, and similar on-device settings.

This data stays on your device. ChatPing has no servers of its own, no account system, and no cloud sync. There is no ChatPing account, and your conversations are not uploaded to us.

What is sent to your AI provider (you bring your own key)

This is the core of how ChatPing works and the most important disclosure in this policy.

• •What is sent — when you send a message, the content of that message, including the current conversation context and any attachment (image, PDF, or text) you added, is transmitted over an encrypted connection to the AI provider whose API key you configured (for example, via OpenRouter to the model you selected).
• •When — only when you press send. Nothing is sent to any AI provider until you have entered a key and you send a message.
• •Who receives it — the third-party AI provider you chose. Your prompts and attachments are handled under that provider’s own privacy policy and terms. ChatPing does not control, store, or see this traffic on any server of its own.
• •Your responsibility — because you bring your own key, you choose the provider and are billed directly by them. Review your provider’s privacy policy to understand how they handle the content you send.

Firebase Crashlytics (Google)

What is sent: crash signatures, stack traces, device model, Android OS version, and an anonymous Crashlytics installation ID. What is NOT sent: your prompts, AI replies, attachments, API key, or any conversation content. These reports are sent only when the app crashes or hits an unhandled error. Crash diagnostics are always enabled for service reliability — the minimum needed to fix bugs — and never include user content. Firebase privacy policy: firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

Firebase Analytics (Google)

What is sent: anonymous, content-free usage events (for example app_opened, screen_view with fixed screen names, a message-sent counter with no text). What is NOT sent: your prompts, AI replies, attachment contents, API key, or any personally identifying information. Optional analytics (Tier 2) can be turned off in Settings; always-on diagnostics are content-free by design. Screen tracking uses manual screen_view events only — GA4 automatic screen reporting is disabled in the app manifest.

Google Play Billing

What is sent: a purchase-token exchange with Google’s Play Billing servers to confirm your ChatPing Pro subscription status. What ChatPing receives: a boolean entitlement flag (subscribed or not). ChatPing never receives your payment card, billing address, or any financial details.

Permissions and why we ask for them

ChatPing declares a single permission: INTERNET — required to send your messages to your chosen AI provider and for content-free Firebase diagnostics and analytics. ChatPing requests no other runtime permissions in v1. It does not request contacts, camera, storage-wide access, notifications, exact alarms, or an Accessibility Service.

What ChatPing does not do

• •Does not run any AI model on ChatPing servers — there are no ChatPing servers.
• •Does not store or forward your conversations to us or to anyone other than the AI provider you chose.
• •Does not read your prompts, replies, or attachments in analytics or crash reports.
• •Does not sell or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
• •Does not include a ChatPing account or require sign-up.

Advertising

The free tier shows a banner ad at the top of the screen served by Google AdMob. AdMob may use an advertising identifier for ad delivery and measurement, per Google’s policies. A ChatPing Pro subscription removes ads. Ad requests never include your prompts, replies, attachments, or API key.

Data retention

Conversations and preferences remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app. Free-tier history is retained for 90 days; ChatPing Pro keeps history with no time limit. Firebase retains diagnostic and analytics data per Google’s standard retention settings. Content sent to your AI provider is retained per that provider’s own policy.

Your rights

• •Delete — clear individual conversations or all history in the app; uninstalling removes all local data.
• •Reset diagnostics ID — clear app data from Android Settings → Apps → ChatPing → Clear data.
• •Provider data — to delete or export data held by your AI provider, use that provider’s own tools; that data is outside ChatPing.
• •Contact us — for any data-rights request, email support@plannedping.com. Because ChatPing stores data only on your device and has no account system, most requests are fulfilled by the in-app delete options.

Children

ChatPing is a general productivity tool and is not designed for or targeted at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy as the app evolves. The effective date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
